Evan S. Benn
I am the Senior Director of Special Projects and Communications at The Inquirer. I work on collaborative projects that support our journalism and our business goals, and I lead external and internal communications for The Inquirer.
I knew I wanted to be a journalist after taking a middle school field trip to the newsroom of my hometown paper, the York (Pa.) Dispatch and Sunday News. They let me stick around as an intern, and I had my first front-page byline at age 14.
I graduated from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism and worked as a reporter and editor at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the Miami Herald. Before joining The Inquirer, I was editor in chief of INDULGE, the Herald's award-winning glossy lifestyle magazine.
My freelance writing on food and travel has been published in The New York Times, Bon Appétit, Esquire, Travel + Leisure, Plate, Drift, and others. I wrote "Brew in the Lou," a 2011 book about St. Louis' robust craft beer scene, and contributed a chapter about food to "This Is Your Song Too," published in 2023 by PSU Press.
