Performing a Google cache clear
Here's how to get a URL out of Google after you've turned off the story
It's not a good idea to take stories completely off the Web site, because that causes a 404 error. But sometimes, we need to. And sometimes, we need to also clear that URL from Google. Here's how to do so.
Once the article is deleted (article redirects to 'Page Not Found'), you may opt to remove the URL from Google's search results by taking the following steps (Note: This is optional; if you do not manually request Google to update this page, they will do so automatically every 24-72 hours):
1. Go to https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/removals?pli=1
2. Login with any Google account
3. Type in the URL you'd like to be removed from the index.
4. Select "Page has been removed or blocked from search engines" as the reason.
5. Check the box labeled "For permanent removal, the page must return a 404/410, or be blocked from search engines."
6. Submit the request
