Electric buses on Martha’s Vineyard will get a charge from Malvern company
With the $1.6M deal, Momentum Dynamics Corp. will install its high-speed wireless chargers to extend the range of the island's electric bus fleet.

Momentum Dynamics Corp. of Malvern on Tuesday announced a deal to sell a wireless charging system to the municipal bus agency on Martha's Vineyard, Mass., which this year began to swap its diesel vehicles for electric buses.
Momentum Dynamics will embed three 200-kilowatt wireless charging systems in the roadway at a Vineyard Transit Authority bus stop in Edgartown, Mass. An electric bus, positioned over a wireless charger, can top up its battery in a few minutes en route, allowing the vehicle to extend its range.
The contract is worth more than $1.6 million, said Andrew Daga, the company's chief executive. Ten buses are included in the first phase, but the transit authority plans to eventually convert its entire 32-bus fleet to electric.
Momentum Dynamics, which has installed its charging systems with three other transit agencies, believes that high-speed wireless charging will accelerate the market adoption of electric vehicles. It is focused initially on serving large EVs, such as buses, that follow a circuit and return repeatedly to the same location, where they get a quick charge.
