Former Vanguard lawyer seeks ‘whistleblower’ status

Nine years after he was fired after he alleged tax fraud at his employer, David Danon seeks to collect a cut of federal proceeds, which Vanguard hasn't confirmed.

David Danon at his Tredyffrin Township home in 2014, after he was fired from his position as a tax lawyer by Vanguard Group, the Malvern investment giant. He says he was terminated for alleging large-scale tax fraud by Vanguard to federal authorities. On July 22, 2022, Danon filed a demand in federal court seeking payment from the Securities and Exchange Commission under federal whistleblower laws. Vanguard has denied wrongdoing; neither the company nor federal agencies have confirmed Vanguard paid additional taxes.
