Woman is shot to death in Oxford Circle

Gunfire claimed the life of a woman and critically injured a man on an Oxford Circle street early on Monday.

Philadelphia police arrived at the 800 block of Anchor St. just before 3:30 a.m. and found the wounded victims on the snowy sidewalk, a police department spokeswoman said.

Michele Gonzalez, 19, of the 5900 block of Malta St., suffered a wound of the head and died at the scene.

A 38-year-old man, whose name was not released, had multiple unspecified wounds and was taken in critical condition to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he remained on Tuesday.

It is unknown what, if any, personal connection the victims had.

Police have announced no suspects or descriptions of the shooter or shooters.

No motive is known.
