4-year-old boy returned to mother after being abducted in stolen vehicle
The child and the stolen car were tracked down using an iPad left inside the vehicle, police said.
A 4-year-old boy was abducted in Strawberry Mansion on Tuesday night after his mother left him sleeping in the backseat of her car outside a relative’s house and someone stole the vehicle, police said.
Around 11:30 p.m., a woman, whom police did not identify, left her Toyota Rav 4 running with her son asleep in the backseat while she was inside the house on the 3000 block of West Susquehanna Avenue, said Deputy Police Commissioner Frank Vanore.
When she came back outside, he said, her car and child were gone.
Using the tracking in an iPad that was left inside the SUV, the woman was able to track the vehicle to 2900 Flora St., said Vanore. Police said they found the car — and the still-sleeping child — at 12:38 a.m.
Police are still searching for the person who stole the car.
