N.J. Attorney General's Office investigating fatal shooting of Millville man by law enforcement

The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office said Friday it was investigating the fatal shooting of a 47-year-old Millville man by a sergeant with the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office.

On Thursday morning, police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on the 300 block of Hazel Boulevard, the attorney general’s office said. During an encounter inside a residence, Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office Sgt. John Borelli fatally shot Shaun Murphy, the attorney general’s office said.

The attorney general’s office said a gun was recovered from the scene.

Under state law, the attorney general’s office is required to investigate all deaths that happen during encounters with law enforcement.
