A 25-year-old man was hospitalized in stable condition after he was stabbed in the face during a verbal altercation late Monday afternoon at Dilworth Park in Center City, police said.

Around 4:05 p.m., police responded to an initial report from a security guard that a man had been stabbed in the neck at Dilworth Park.

Police said they later determined the man had been stabbed in the face during a verbal dispute. A suspect was taken into custody without incident, police said.

The victim was transported by medics to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

An image posted online by 6abc showed a stairwell leading down to SEPTA was blocked by police tape.

SEPTA spokesperson Andrew Busch said the stabbing occurred in or near the stairwell.

On Dec. 13, a shooting at Christmas Village in Dilworth Park left three teen boys injured. Three people have since been arrested.
