A man and woman were fatally shot in a North Philadelphia home Thursday afternoon, police said.
Few details were available as police continued to process the scene inside the private residence in the 1800 block of Diamond Street.
According to police, an adult male and a 35-year-old woman were each shot multiple times throughout their bodies around 3 p.m. They were pronounced dead at the scene by medics. Police did not release the victims’ names.
No arrests had been made and no weapons had been found, police said, adding that no motive had been established.
The shootings follow a weekend during which at least 24 people were shot in 11 incidents, including three teens outside the Christmas Village at Dilworth Park, one of whom remains in critical condition fighting for his life. Yet Mayor Cherelle L. Parker and police officials earlier this week emphasized progress made this year in curtailing gun violence across Philadelphia — citing a 36% drop in shootings and a 37% drop in homicides compared with 2023.
A $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the Diamond Street double shooting. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or the Police Department tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
