Man fatally shot in Kensington, 2 suspects in custody
The 23-year-old victim was shot multiple times in the body on the 700 block of East Willard Street, police said.
A 23-year-old man was killed in a shooting Monday night in the city’s Kensington section, and two suspects were apprehended soon afterward, police said.
Around 9:20 p.m., police responded to a reported shooting on the 700 block of East Willard Street and found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his body, said Inspector D.F. Pace.
He was transported by police to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:41 p.m.
Police with access to a surveillance camera in the area spotted two men running from the scene of the shooting, Pace said.
The men were tracked down to the 700 block of East Madison Street, one block over, where they smashed a window of an unoccupied house and were trying to hide inside, Pace said.
As police went into the house, the men fled out the back door but were quickly taken into custody, Pace said.
Police found 21 spent shell casings at the shooting scene, as well as a gun that apparently belonged to to the victim, Pace said.
