The girlfriend of a man found dead in a suitcase in Kensington last week shot him in the head and took his remains in a rideshare car to dispose of them, authorities said.

Liza Ridley, 53, was arrested Thursday and charged with murder in the killing of 53-year-old Vincent Good, according to prosecutors.

Assistant District Attorney Cydney Pope said during a news conference announcing the charges that Ridley shot Good multiple times in the head and left his body in their Northeast Philadelphia apartment for at least two weeks.

Ridley, seeking to dispose of his remains, eventually brought Good’s body to Kensington in a suitcase using a Lyft ride. Police found Good’s body last Friday after receiving a call about the suitcase on the 600 block of East Hilton Street, where it had been since the previous day, Pope said.

Investigators were led to Ridley in part due to a tip from the Lyft driver, who took a photo of Ridley on her cell phone after noticing a foul odor coming from the suitcase during the ride, according to Pope.

When asked about the smell, Ridley told the Lyft driver that the suitcase was full of wet clothes, Pope said. The driver alerted authorities after seeing news reports about the suitcase discovery the following day.

Three other people who lived with Good in his Mayfair apartment were also arrested Thursday and accused of crimes in relation to his death.

Bernadette Ridley, 55, who is Ridley’s sister, was charged with abuse of a corpse and related crimes.

Ridley’s 32-year-old daughter, Liza Robinson, and Robinson’s boyfriend, 33-year-old Gnaeus Daniels, were charged with tampering with evidence, obstruction, and related crimes.

Asked about their involvement, Pope said that Robinson and Daniels helped clean up the crime scene and that Robinson called the Lyft for her mother.

Investigators said Good was shot and killed in his apartment on the 5700 block of Leonard Street in early May — weeks before his body was discovered.

The medical examiner’s office ruled that Good’s death from multiple gunshot wounds was a homicide.

Good, who had previously had surgical amputations, required medical care that Ridley was paid to perform through a home care agency, Pope said. He also received monthly Social Security checks, she added.

Only days ago, Pope said, Ridley quit her home care job and told her employer that Good had moved to Florida to be closer to a family member.

Investigators have not identified a motive in the killing, though they are looking into whether the crime was financially motivated, according to prosecutors.

A person searching for scrap metal in Kensington last week came across the suitcase and alerted authorities, according to police. They found two additional trash bags that also had Good’s remains, they said.
