44-year-old woman found stabbed to death at a Kingsessing rowhouse
Police and Fire Department personnel responded to a 911 call on the 5600 block of Whitby Avenue and found the woman lying on the floor inside the porch near the front door
A 44-year-old woman was found stabbed to death inside an enclosed porch of a Kingsessing rowhouse Monday night, police said.
Just before 8:40 p.m., police and medics responded to a 911 call on the 5600 block of Whitby Avenue and found the woman lying on the floor of the porch near the front door, said Chief Inspector Scott Small.
The woman, who had a stab wound to the left side of her body, was pronounced dead at 8:41 p.m.
There were two men inside the residence and they were transported to the Homicide Unit for questioning, Small said.
Police did not immediately find a knife or other possible weapon, but Small noted that inside of the rowhouse was “very cluttered and in disarray.”
The woman, who was acquainted with the two men, did not live at the rowhouse, but was known to frequently visit and sometimes sleep there, Small said.
She had a prior address history that included stays at shelters, he said.
A motive for the stabbing was under investigation.
