Father shot son as a family argument turned violent in East Mount Airy, police said
Police said the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute.
A father shot his adult son during an argument Saturday night in Philadelphia’s East Mount Airy section, according to police.
Officers responding to a report of a person with a gun on the 200 block of East Phil Ellena Street just after 8 p.m. found a 24-year-old man nearby on the 6700 block of Musgrave Street who had been shot multiple times, police said.
He had gunshot wounds to the left arm, left flank, right thigh and buttocks, and was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center and was listed in stable condition Sunday afternoon, police said.
Police said the victim’s 67-year-old father was taken into custody and was expected to be charged with aggravated assault and related offenses.
The shooting is believed to be the result of a domestic dispute, police said, declining to provide identities of the father or son.
Police Inspector D.F. Pace told reporters at the scene Saturday night that investigators did not know if the victim also had a gun at the time he was shot.
