A Delaware County man was arrested Thursday and charged with murder in the shooting death of a 37-year-old man in Norristown last weekend, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele said.

Marquan “Trey” Banks, 25, of Brookhaven, was taken into custody at a residence in Chester around 1 p.m. by the U.S. Marshals Service, Norristown police, Montgomery County detectives, and Chester police.

On Saturday just after 7:30 p.m., Norristown police responded to a report of a shooting on the 500 block of Noble Street and found Jermaine Pierce of Norristown dead from a gunshot wound to the face, Steele said.

Police found several spent shell casings and live rounds on the ground near Pierce’s body.

Based on a review of video and witness statements, investigators reported that Banks and two other men were walking south on Noble Street when they encountered Pierce and Isaiah Bell, 29, of Norristown, walking in the other direction.

As one of the men with Banks stopped to greet Bell, Banks pulled out a gun and shot Pierce, said Steele, who did not offer a possible motive for the shooting.

Bell can be seen running to Pierce, searching his body, then standing and firing at Banks, who was fleeing, and the other men, Steele said.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Bell, who is wanted for firearms violations and theft.

Banks was being held without bail at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
