On the second-to-last shopping weekend before Christmas, smash-and-grab burglars made off with eight Rolex watches from the Zales jewelry store at Philadelphia Mills mall in Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

The burglary occurred just before 1 p.m., when two men entered the store in the mall formerly known as Franklin Mills and broke into display cases with a sledgehammer, police said.

The one wielding the sledgehammer was wearing a face mask and a dark-colored jacket; his alleged accomplice was in a gray hoodie, according to police.

They fled in a newer model black Hyundai with heavily tinted windows, police said.

No arrests had been made as of early Saturday evening and no injuries were reported.

Anyone with information about the crime can contact the Police Department’s tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
