Report: Ravens' Jacoby Jones gets bashed at birthday bash
According to TMZ, a stripper hit the wide receiver in the head with a bottle of champagne.
IN THE NFL'S weekly injury report, players' names are followed by the reason why they are out in parentheses. This week, you could see this:
Ravens: WR Jacoby Jones (stripper)
The wide receiver was reportedly hurt when a stripper named "Sweet Pea" hit him in the head with a bottle of champagne early yesterday morning.
According to TMZ, Jones was on a "party bus filled with his Ravens teammates" celebrating offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie's 34th birthday in Washington, D.C.
The incident reportedly happened around 3 a.m., about 11 hours after the Ravens dropped the Texans, 30-9, in Baltimore.
TMZ, citing sources, reported that a fight broke out on the bus and that "Sweet Pea" bashed Jones with a bottle of bubbly. A source told the website that Jones was "bleeding everywhere." According to a police report, an ambulance was called to the scene, but Jones refused medical treatment and no arrests were made.
Yesterday, Ravens coach John Harbaugh told reporters he had discussed the incident with the entire team.
"What do you want to be known for?" Harbaugh said. "Do you want to be known as a football player or do you want to be known for that?"
Harbaugh said Jones, who has yet to play this season because of a sprained right knee, took part in team activities yesterday. He is not expected to play on Sunday at Buffalo.
The Baltimore Sun reported that calls to Jones and McKinnie were not returned.
Correction
Haste makes waste - and leads to dumb mistakes.
Yesterday, we reported that pitcher Andy Pettitte played his entire 18-year career with the Yankees. He actually played three seasons (2004-06) with the Astros.
