Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb will miss the Eagles game with a shoulder injury
The Cowboys shut down the All-Pro receiver for the season's last two games.
The Eagles (12-3) already knew the Cowboys (7-8) would be shorthanded on Sunday, as quarterback Dak Prescott was lost for the season with a hamstring tear in Week 9.
Now Dallas will be without top playmaker CeeDee Lamb as well, with the Cowboys announcing Thursday that they are shutting down the All-Pro receiver for the rest of the season due to a nagging shoulder injury. Lamb, who has 101 catches for 1,194 yards and six touchdowns this season, initially injured his shoulder in a Week 9 loss to Atlanta. He is not expected to need surgery.
While Lamb has had big games against the Eagles before, including an 11-catch, 191-yard outing last season, the Birds held him to just 21 yards on six catches in the first matchup with Dallas last month.
With Lamb shelved, the Cowboys receiving group consists of Jalen Tolbert, Brandin Cooks, KaVontae Turpin, Ryan Flournoy, and Jonathan Mingo. It is worth noting that Tolbert (finger) was estimated to be a limited participant if the Cowboys had practiced Wednesday.
Cooper Rush, the Cowboys' backup quarterback, also can call on surging running back Rico Dowdle as well as tight end Jake Ferguson in the passing game.
While the Eagles will catch a significant break with Lamb out, they have their own injury concerns, namely with quarterback Jalen Hurts. Hurts has not practiced this week and remains in concussion protocol.
