Eagles offensive line to be featured in ESPN The Magazine’s Body Issue
Lane Johnson, Jason Kelce, Brandon Brooks, Isaac Seumalo, and Halipoulivaati Vaitai will be featured in ESPN The Magazine’s Body Issue released on Sept. 4.
Hopefully the Eagles offensive line spent some time getting tan this summer.
Lane Johnson, Jason Kelce, Brandon Brooks, Isaac Seumalo and Halapoulivaati Vaitai will be featured in ESPN The Magazine’s Body Issue released on Sept. 4. The annual issue, going into its 10th year, shows athletes posed either nude or semi-nude and is “dedicated to the power of the athletic form.”
Before Monday’s practice, Brooks made sure to mention it was Johnson’s idea. The starting right tackle approached his linemates a few weeks before OTAs, and the group had the photoshoot done in a parking lot near the NovaCare Complex in June.
In 2017, Zach and Julie Ertz posed for the magazine, possibly inspiring his Eagles teammates to follow suit. Brooks said he asked Ertz what to expect, and Ertz warned him that the nudity in the magazine’s photos isn’t faked.
“I thought that the body issue, you just had robes on, like you’re naked, but you’re not really naked, but you’re really naked the whole time,” Brooks said. "You’re posing, and they block everything off right, but then once the shoots over, you’re still [butt] naked, just hanging out.
ESPN also announced golfer Brooks Koepka and Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich would be in the edition.
Malcolm Jenkins, who has a bit more muscle definition than some of his teammates, said he’ll be skipping this edition of the magazine after seeing a preview of the shots.
“It’s at least humorous. I was hoping it was satirical, but to each his own, I guess,” Jenkins said. “I don’t want to look at it again. It was funny for a glimpse.”
“That’s just hate right there” Brooks said.
Johnson added “that’s not supporting the team, man."
If you can’t wait 'til Sept. 4, here’s a taste:
