Zach Ertz, Olamide Zaccheaus, and more Commanders players with Philly ties

by Gabriela Carroll

The Eagles will see a few old friends on the other sideline at Lincoln Financial Field in Sunday's NFC championship game. Here are five familiar faces on the Commanders roster ...

Ertz was on the Birds’ only Super Bowl-winning team and is one of the franchise’s best-ever tight ends. He spent nine seasons with the Eagles before being traded in 2021. The Ertz Family Foundation still does much of its work in Philly.

Olamide Zaccheaus, wide receiver

Zaccheaus, a St. Joe’s Prep grad who grew up in South Jersey, played for the Eagles in 2023, finishing the year with 10 catches for 164 yards and two touchdowns. He's having a bounce-back season in Washington (45 catches, 506 yards, 3 TDs).

Marcus Mariota, quarterback

John McDonnell / The Washington Post

Mariota, a one-time draft darling for Eagles fans, was Jalen Hurts' backup in 2023 before signing with the Commanders to back up Jayden Daniels this season. Mariota passed for 164 yards and a touchdown in three games for the Birds.

Tyree Jackson, tight end

Jackson was often injured but appeared in 14 games over the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He caught three passes for 22 yards and a touchdown. He spent 2023 with the Giants, and was signed to the Commanders practice squad last month.

Julian Good-Jones, guard

The Birds signed Good-Jones, an offensive lineman, out of Iowa State. He spent 2020 and 2023 on the Birds’ practice squad, and was signed to Washington’s active roster in November 2023. Like Jackson, he's on the team's practice squad.
