Micah Parsons says it’s ‘personal’ ahead of the Cowboys matchup with the Eagles on Sunday

After the Washington Commanders defeated the Eagles on Sunday — snapping a 10-game winning streak — the Dallas Cowboys have been eliminated from playoff contention. Now that the Cowboys know their postseason fate, linebacker Micah Parsons says Dallas has embraced a new role for the rest of the season.

“Now, I kind of feel like — obviously, being eliminated — we’re the team where it’s like, now you got to go to Dallas and you got to fight for your life now,” Parsons said on The Edge with Micah Parsons. “You got to fight for your season here. The rabbit got the gun. And I don’t want to be on that side, but that’s where we’re at.”

After the Cowboys took down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night, the Bucs’ quest for a fourth straight division title took a bit of a hit. Tampa’s loss at AT&T Stadium coupled with an Atlanta Falcons win over the New York Giants has shifted the control in the NFC South race back to the Falcons after Tampa was in the driver’s seat the last two weeks.

“The Bucs had a really good chance of sealing their division if they won that game,” Parsons said. “But they were in trouble. You know who else is in trouble? Philly.”

The Eagles had a chance to clinch the NFC East last week with a win over the Commanders, but a go-ahead touchdown from Washington with six seconds remaining in the game ended the Birds’ chances of an early Christmas gift. However, the Eagles can still clinch the division with a win in Week 17 against Parsons and the Cowboys.

“It’s Week 17 versus the Eagles and it’s time,” Parsons said. “It’s time. I won’t get into it too much. I’m very excited about the matchup, I can’t wait. They beat us at home, we’re trying to go get a win at their home. And it’s personal. It is very personal. It’s going to be a good game. I’m excited to go out to Philly and try to get this win. Everyone saw my comments last week and I meant it. When you need Philly to win, they don’t win. It’s definitely very personal and I can’t wait.”

The comments Parsons is referring to is when the linebacker said he wasn’t rooting for Philly in last week’s matchup with Washington — even if it costs him the playoffs, which it did.

“Nah, at this point, it’s [expletive] Philly, now,” Parsons told reporters on Thursday. “Even if we got eliminated I got to crush Philly. [expletive] them. I hate them now. I be seeing them just talking so much on socials. I don’t know, my Twitter page got consumed by Philly [fans]. Man, ugh. They say don’t look forward to some things but I’m excited about the matchup [next week], too.”

Earlier this season, the Birds dominated the Cowboys in a 34-6 win at AT&T Stadium as part of a five-game losing streak for Dallas.
