What’s on the mind of the Eagles’ soon-to-be free agents?
The Eagles continue on in their playoff run as offseason decisions loom for impending free agents such as Zack Baun and Milton Williams.
Vic Fangio and the Eagles built the league’s best defense in 2024, thanks to smart free-agent signings from Howie Roseman such as Zack Baun.
In the playoffs, each Eagles game could be their last, so on the latest episode on unCovering the Birds, Jeff McLane talked to a few of the Birds’ pending free agents about their experience with the Eagles and their upcoming free agency,
Defensive tackle Milton Williams is having the best season of his career in the fourth year of his rookie contract. Williams, who was drafted by the Eagles in the third-round in 2021, wants to stay in Philadelphia.
“I want to stay here because I mean, the Philly culture, the Philly fans, the media,” Williams said. “When you aren’t looking good, y’all are going let us know quick. … I don’t know if it’s like that in other spots, but I definitely say they make you play harder. Once you know everybody is really paying attention, you don’t want to let anybody down.”
Baun was a revelation in his first year in Philadelphia, becoming a first-team All-Pro player and a Defensive Player of the Year candidate in Fangio’s defense. He’s sure to be in high demand in free agency in the offseason — and he told unCovering the Birds that his agent hasn’t had much communication with the Eagles.
“It’s a win-win situation,” Baun said. “I want to stay here, but everything has to work out, and it takes two to tango in that regard.”

Cornerback Isaiah Rodgers wants to stay in Philadelphia, but is approaching every game with the Eagles like it might be his last.
“It’s harder for people like me, upcoming free agents, where now these games are win or go home,” Rodgers said. “If you don’t, then you’ve got to pack up and go, so I look at it differently than most people here, because a lot of people are on longer terms than I am. It’s one of those moments where I try not to look ahead, but I definitely kind of have to at the same time, so it’s kind of frustrating.”
