Eagles-Bills: Start time, channel, how to watch and stream

It's the first meeting between two of the NFL's top quarterbacks – Jalen Hurts and Josh Allen.

The Eagles (9-1) take on the Buffalo Bills (6-5) today in South Philly as the Birds look to continue their momentum through the toughest stretch of their schedule.

The Birds will be back in their kelly green throwback jerseys, which the team donned from 1985 to 1995. They won their first game this season in the throwback jerseys — a 31-17 victory against the Miami Dolphins last month — but in the 11 seasons they wore the kelly greens the Birds won a total of two playoff games, and none under former head coach Buddy Ryan.

The Eagles have had much more success in their midnight green jerseys, and they currently sit atop the NFC with a 1½-game lead over the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers, who the Birds will face next week at the Linc. A win by the Eagles today would give them a two-game advantage over the Cowboys in the NFC East.

It will be the first time Jalen Hurts and Bills quarterback Josh Allen face off as starting quarterbacks. Allen is second in the NFL with 22 touchdown passes and has 29 total touchdowns, and Hurts ranks second with 24 total touchdowns (15 passing, nine rushing).

The Bills at 6-5 will be desperate for a win to remain in the hunt for a playoff spot in the AFC and will look to exploit the Eagles’ struggling pass defense, which ranks 28th in the NFL.

“It’s really hard to defend him,” Eagles defensive coordinator Sean Desai said of Allen earlier this week. “He can beat you throwing the ball, running the ball as a true runner with the quarterback run game and as a scrambler. He can create explosives in a lot of different ways. He’s big. He’s tough and physical. He’s accurate. He has a strong arm. All those things present unique challenges.”

The Eagles and Bills have only faced off twice over the past decade. Their most recent game was a 2019 blowout win by the Eagles in Buffalo, which featured the Birds’ defense sacking Josh Allen four times and holding him to 169 yards passing.

Here’s everything you need to know to watch or stream the Eagles’ Sunday afternoon game against the Bills on CBS.

Today’s game between the Eagles and Bills is scheduled to kick off at 4:25 p.m. Philadelphia time on CBS.

Calling the game is veteran CBS announcer Jim Nantz, joined in the booth for the seventh-straight season by former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. Tracy Wolfson will be reporting from the sidelines at Lincoln Financial Field.

It’s the second Eagles game Nantz and Romo have called this year — the first was the Birds’ Week 1 win over the New England Patriots. If they call the Eagles a third time, it’ll be because the Birds have advanced to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, which will air on CBS on Feb. 11.

Like everyone else, Romo has become a big fan of Hurts, the NFL’s leading MVP candidate. But the former Cowboys quarterback has been really been impressed by the decisions made by Eagles owner Jeff Lurie, which includes returning personnel power to Howie Roseman and replacing Super Bowl-winning head coach Doug Pederson with Nick Sirianni.

“This was a franchise-changing decision,” Romo said of the hiring of Sirianni. “He has evolved that offense, he’s evolved that defense, and he’s made it where they truly do take advantage of their personnel. ... Like they went and hired college coaches to help with the stuff that some of the other coaches didn’t necessarily know.”

Eagles-Bills also will air on the radio on 94.1 WIP, where fans can listen to the familiar voices of Merrill Reese and former Eagles receiver Mike Quick. WIP host Howard Eskin will handle sideline reporting duties.

Rickie Ricardo, Oscar Budejen, and Bill Kulik will call Eagles-Bills in Spanish on La Mega 105.7 FM in Philadelphia.

NFC East standings and playoff picture

The Eagles enter Sunday 1½ games up on the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East. The Eagles won their first matchup with the Cowboys earlier this month, and the two will face off again in Week 14 on Dec. 10.

Here’s how the NFC currently stacks up. If the playoffs were to start today, the Eagles would have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

AFC playoff picture

The Bills are in the hunt for an AFC playoff spot and need to win to keep pace with the Miami Dolphins, who defeated the New York Jets on Friday and currently hold the top playoff spot in the conference.

  1. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith was listen on the Eagles’ injury report with a knee issue, but is expected to play Sunday. Smith needs just two receptions for his third-straight 50-catch season.

  2. After forging a brotherhood at Temple, Eagles defender Haason Reddick and Bills defender Dion Dawkins will meet as opponents Sunday.

  3. The Eagles waived defensive end Derek Barnett, whom the team drafted with the No. 14 pick in 2017. Barnett had missed the past two games for “personal reasons.”

  4. Is Jalen Hurts a swashbuckler? Sure. Just not as much as Josh Allen, writes columnist Mike Sielski.
