Coming off their bye week, the Philadelphia Eagles (8-1) will face the Kansas City Chiefs (7-2) tonight on Monday Night Football in one of the most highly anticipated games of the NFL season.

The last time these two teams faced off was in Super Bowl LVII back in February, which ended with the Chiefs narrowly defeating the Eagles, 38-35, following a controversial late penalty on cornerback James Bradberry.

Once again it’ll be Jalen Hurts vs. Patrick Mahomes, a matchup of two of the NFL’s top quarterbacks facing off in the regular season for just the second time (the Chiefs beat the Eagles, 42-30, in Week 4 of the 2021 season). And the game features the return of the so-called Kelce Bowl, with Eagles center Jason Kelce going up against and his younger brother, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

There’s also A.J. Brown, the NFC’s offensive player of the month, who is on pace to shatter the Eagles franchise record for most receiving yards in a season, which he set last year with 1,496 yards. Through nine games, Brown already has 1,005 receiving yards, more than the top three Chiefs wide receivers combined.

Naturally, ESPN is going all out for tonight’s broadcast. The game will air on both ESPN and ABC, stream on ESPN+, and will get the Manningcast treatment on ESPN2. ESPN also trucked in additional equipment for tonight’s telecast, which will feature eight 4K cameras and 16 super slow-motion cameras deployed throughout Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The network’s “In the Air Tonight” intro will also get some custom lyrics for tonight’s game, courtesy of Snoop Dogg.

After tonight, the Eagles have one more Monday night game on their schedule, but it won’t air on either ESPN or ABC. The Birds will take on the New York Giants as part of an NFL triple-header on Christmas Day that will air on Fox.

Tonight’s Monday Night Football game between the Eagles and Chiefs is scheduled to kick off at 8:15 p.m. Eastern on ESPN and ABC.

Calling tonight’s game are ESPN announcers Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, who are in the middle of their NFL-record 22nd season working together in the booth. Joining them will be King of Prussia native Lisa Salters, who will report from the Chiefs’ sideline at Arrowhead Stadium during the game, while NFL Live host Laura Rutledge will report from the Eagles’ sideline.

Eagles-Chiefs will also air on the radio on 94.1 WIP, where fans can listen to the familiar voices of Merrill Reese and former Eagles receiver Mike Quick. WIP host Howard Eskin will handle sideline reporting duties. The Eagles signed a contract extension with WIP this week that will keep Birds games on the station through the 2028 season.

The game will also air in Spanish on ESPN Deportes (Rebeca Landa, Sergio Dipp, Katia Castorena, and John Sutcliffe) and on the radio on La Mega 105.7 (Rickie Ricardo, Oscar Budejen, and Bill Kulik).

You can also stream Monday Night Football on NFL+, the league’s subscription streaming service, which runs $6.99 a month.

If you’re looking to stream the game for free and you live in or around Philadelphia, your best option is using a digital antenna, since the game will air on broadcast television on 6abc.

Is there a ‘Manningcast’ tonight for Eagles-Chiefs?

Peyton and Eli Manning’s alternative Monday Night Football telecast, dubbed the “Manningcast,” is back on ESPN2 for the third straight year, and tonight they’ll be broadcasting during Eagles-Chiefs.

It’s just the second Eagles game the duo have handled during their three-years with ESPN — the first was last season’s blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys. And it will likely be their last this season, unless the Eagles find themselves playing during the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

We already know one of tonight’s guests — former Eagles quarterback-turned-Fox NFL analyst Michael Vick; his voice carries weight among younger players who idolized him growing up, especially those who played Madden football.

It’ll be interesting to watch Peyton and Eli talk about Jalen Hurts, who attended the Manning Passing Academy during high school and continues to have a relationship with the Manning brothers.

Hurts made it onto the Manningcast last season, when the young Eagles quarterback (who was wearing a hoodie with the phrase “God bless whoever hating on me”) reacted to a wild video of Hall of Famer Michael Irvin, who passionately and hilariously butchered a Hurts quote about heat and thermostats.

Here’s the rest if the “Manningcast” schedule this season:

  1. Week 11: Eagles at Chiefs, Nov. 20

  2. Week 13: Bengals at Jaguars, Dec. 4

  3. Week 15: Chiefs at Patriots, Dec. 18

  4. NFL Playoffs: TBD Wild Card game

NFL fans looking for a brief reprieve from the Taylor Swift hype will get their wish tonight, as the music superstar isn’t expected to attend tonight’s game due to a scheduling change on her Eras Tour.

Swift was slated to performed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Saturday night, but the show was postponed to Monday due to extreme heat. Ana Clara Benevides, a 23-year-old fan, died during Swift’s performance Friday night, a show she was forced to stop multiple times to ask for water for her overheating fans.

“The safety and well being of my fans, fellow performers, and crew has to and always will come first,” Swift wrote on Instagram Saturday.

Swift’s parents — Andrea and Scott — were expected to be alongside Kelce’s parents — Donna and Ed — at tonight’s game, but it’s unclear if those plans have changed due to Swift’s scheduling conflict. Scott was born in Bryn Mawr and is longtime Eagles fan, but was spotted wearing a Chiefs lanyard while spending time with Travis at an Eras Tour stop in Argentina last week.

“Got him over here to the good side, baby,” Travis joked on last week’s episode of their New Heights podcast.

NFL playoff picture

The Eagles have the best record in the NFL, but a loss against the Chiefs could drop them into a tie with the Detroit Lions and leave them just one game up on both the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys, who they’ll face over the next couple of weeks.

According to the New York Times playoff simulator, the Birds currently have a 59% chance of landing the No. 1 or No. 2 seed and getting a bye week during the first round of the playoffs. A win against the Chiefs shifts that to a 71% chance.

Here’s how the NFC stacks up. If the playoffs were to start today, the Eagles would have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

AFC Playoff Picture

The Chiefs currently have the best record in the AFC, but a loss would drop them into a four-way tie for second place with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, and Cleveland Browns.

  2. Eagles rookie Jalen Carter called a recent incident at a Philadelphia Target in Center City earlier this week “a misunderstanding.

  3. Veteran Eagles defender Derek Barnett will miss tonight’s game for personal reasons. He was also a healthy scratch during the Birds’ last game, their win against the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 5.

  5. The last time Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes met on the field, it was the first time two Black quarterbacks had faced off in the Super Bowl. Now, the two again are among the best in the NFL.
