Eagles-Cowboys: Start time, channel, how to watch and stream

Today's Eagles-Cowboys game is the first of a difficult stretch of matchups the Birds will face over the next month.

The Eagles (7-1) take on the Dallas Cowboys (5-2) today in South Philly in a game that could have huge ramifications for the NFC playoff picture heading into the second half of the season.

The Birds currently sit atop the NFC, and would have home-field advantage in the playoffs if the season were to end today. A win by the Eagles would give them a 2½-game advantage over the Cowboys in the NFC East heading into the bye.

But if the Cowboys pull off an upset at the Linc, it would pull them within a half-game of the NFC East with an easy stretch of opponents. While the Eagles are hitting the toughest part of their schedule over the next four games, the Cowboys face a relatively easy road, with games against the Giants, Panthers, and Commanders.

Put it this way: the record of the Eagles’ next three opponents is 16-8, while the Cowboys’ opponents’ combined record is 6-17.

Eagles vs. Cowboys is basically a national game today on Fox, and has the potential to be the most watched game of the season, outpacing the NFL kickoff game between the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs, which drew 26.9 million viewers. They would have to top that mark without the New York City TV market, which will be airing Giants vs. Las Vegas Raiders at the same time.

Here’s everything you need to know to watch or stream the Eagles’ Sunday afternoon game against the Cowboys on Fox.

Today’s game between the Eagles and Rams is scheduled to kick off at 4:25 p.m. Eastern on Fox.

Calling today’s game are two familiar voices for Eagles fans — Kevin Burkhardt (who grew up a Birds fan) and Greg Olsen — who were on the call for Super Bowl LVII, when the Birds came close to toppling the Kansas City Chiefs. Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi will be on the sidelines reporting at the Linc.

It’s the second Eagles game this season for Burkhardt and Olsen, who are in their second season as Fox’s top NFL broadcast team. They’ll also likely be on the call in a couple of weeks, when the Eagles travel to San Francisco to take on the 49ers.

Eagles-Rams will also air on the radio on 94.1 WIP, where fans can listen to the familiar voices of Merrill Reese and former Eagles receiver Mike Quick. WIP host Howard Eskin will handle sideline reporting duties.

Last week, Quick became the latest Philly announcer to predict the future, forecasting an interception by Eagles safety Reed Blankenship. If you want to sync up the radio broadcast with your television, you can stream it for free on the Audacy app. Just be warned — the radio delay is even longer than the one on TV, so turn off your notifications and stay off social media.

Rickie Ricardo, Oscar Budejen, and Bill Kulik will call Eagles-Rams in Spanish on La Mega 105.7 FM in Philadelphia.

Eagles-Cowboys will stream on the Fox Sports app, though you need to log in with your cable provider.

The game also will stream on any so-called skinny bundle that carries Fox, including fuboTV, YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, and DirecTV Stream. Most offer a free trial.

If you live in the Philadelphia TV market, you can also stream the game on NFL+, the league’s subscription streaming service, which runs $6.99 a month.

If you’re looking to stream the game for free and you live in or around Philadelphia, your best option is using a digital antenna, since the game will air on broadcast television on Fox 29.

NFC East standings

Here’s how the NFC currently stacks up. If the playoffs were to start today, the Eagles would have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

NFL Week 9 games on TV in Philly

This week’s schedule features a number of great matchups, but among the best will be the early-morning battle between two top AFC teams — the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs.

It’s just the second NFL regular season game to be played in Germany, kicking off at Frankfurt Stadium at 9:30 a.m. Eastern. In an unusual move, the crew calling the game on the NFL Network — Rich Eisen, Jason McCourty, and ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky — have never actually called an NFL game together.

“I want to make sure that I am not that person where you say, ‘He should just stick to hosting,’” Eisen told the Athletic’s Richard Deitsch. “I take it as a blessing that I have such a significant game on my hands. I take it as a responsibility to stick the landing for my network, the executives who put their faith in me and, most importantly, the fans for whom this is a major viewing experience.”

  1. Dolphins (6-2) at Chiefs (6-2) in Frankfurt, Germany: 9:30 a.m., NFL Network (Rich Eisen, Jason McCourty, Dan Orlovsky, Stacey Dales, Sara Walsh)

  2. Seahawks (5-2) at Ravens (6-2): 1 p.m., CBS3 (Jim Nantz, Tony Romo, Tracy Wolfson)

  3. Commanders (3-5) at Patriots (2-6): 1 p.m., Fox 29 (Kenny Albert, Jonathan Vilma, Shannon Spake)

  4. Bills (5-3) at Bengals (4-3): 8:20 p.m., NBC10 (Mike Tirico, Cris Collinsworth, Melissa Stark)

  5. Los Angeles Chargers (3-4) at New York Jets (3-4): Monday, 8:15 p.m., ESPN and 6ABC (Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Lisa Salters)
