Eagles-Dolphins: Start time, channel, how to watch and stream ‘Sunday Night Football’
It's the first of two games the Birds are scheduled to play on "Sunday Night Football" this season.
Looking to rebound from their first loss of the season, the Philadelphia Eagles (5-1) will face the high-flying Miami Dolphins (5-1) tonight on NBC’s Sunday Night Football.
The Birds will be wearing their throwback kelly green jerseys for the first time since 2010, thanks to the NFL getting rid of a 2013 rule preventing teams from using multiple helmets during a season. The rule change has benefited other NFL teams, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who were able to bring back their classic creamsicle uniforms.
Eagles owner Jeff Lurie and his wife, Christina, changed the Birds’ primary color to midnight green in 1996, two years after he purchased the team. But Lurie has been pushing for years for the return of the kelly green jersey.
“I love the midnight green; I think it’s great. But I also want the kelly green,” Lurie said in 2017. “I’d love for us to have both, and some games have one and some games have the other. I think that would be more fun.”
While there have been many modifications to the Eagles uniform over the years, the kelly green look dates back to 1935, when the Eagles moved away from the yellow and blue jerseys that made a brief return in 2007 to celebrate the franchise’s 75th anniversary.
The Eagles are scheduled for two Sunday Night Football appearances this season. In addition to tonight’s game, they’ll face the Dallas Cowboys in primetime on the road on Dec. 10.
All told, the Eagles started the season scheduled for five primetime games, thanks to their Super Bowl run last season. Viewers are certainly interested in the Birds — this season’s most-watched NFL game is last week’s loss to the New York Jets, which averaged over 29 million viewers.
Here’s everything you need to know to watch or stream tonight’s Eagles game on Sunday Night Football:
What time and channel is the Eagles game tonight?
Tonight’s Sunday Night Football game between the Eagles and the Dolphins is scheduled to kick off at 8:20 p.m. on NBC.
Calling the game will be play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico and analyst Cris Collinsworth, long a favorite of Eagles fans. Melissa Stark will report from the sidelines at the Linc.
Last year, NBC offered a pleasant surprise by resisting the urge to mention cheesesteaks during the entire broadcast. Instead, NBC sent a crew to Reading Terminal Market to highlight roast pork sandwiches being made at DiNic’s.
Eagles-Buccaneers will also air on the radio on 94.1 WIP, where fans can listen to the familiar voices of Merrill Reese and former Eagles receiver Mike Quick. WIP host Howard Eskin will handle sideline reporting duties.
Rickie Ricardo, Oscar Budejen, and Bill Kulik will call Eagles-Dolphins in Spanish on La Mega 105.7 FM in Philadelphia.
