Eagles-Packers stock watch: Birds' defense up after playoff win

by Olivia Reiner

It wasn’t always pretty, but the Eagles held on to beat the Green Bay Packers, 22-10. Jalen Hurts completed just 13 of 21 passes for 131 yards and two touchdowns in his return to action. The defense led the way, picking off Jordan Love three times. Here's our stock watch from the Eagles' wild-card victory on Sunday ...

The former Packers inside linebacker forced a fumble on the opening kickoff, which was recovered by Jeremiah Trotter Jr. Burks took over for the injured Nakobe Dean (knee) in the second quarter and finished with four tackles.

Up: Jahan Dotson

Dotson, the 24-year-old wide receiver, caught his first touchdown pass in an Eagles uniform in the first quarter following the Burks forced fumble. It was his only reception of the night, but a critical one nonetheless.

Up: Nolan Smith

The second-year edge rusher notched two sacks on Packers quarterback Jordan Love. He also stuffed running back Emmanuel Wilson on third down late in the fourth quarter.

Packers running back Josh Jacobs did damage on the ground, finishing the night with 81 rushing yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. His 32-yard carry to the goal line helped set up his own touchdown to pull the Packers within six points.

Jalen Hurts completed his first six passes of the game, then went 0-for-7 on his ensuing attempts until a 28-yarder to DeVonta Smith in the third quarter. The Eagles had just 36 net passing yards in the first half, a season low.

Up: Zack Baun

Baun, who earned All-Pro and Pro Bowl nods earlier in the week, picked off Jordan Love over the middle of the field in the second quarter. In addition to the interception, the inside linebacker finished the game with seven tackles.

Up: Darius Slay

Slay, the 34-year-old cornerback, intercepted Love early in the second quarter on a deep ball down the sideline intended for Dontayvion Wicks. The pick is the first in the postseason of his career.

Down: Jake Elliott’s consistency

Elliott missed the extra point following Dallas Goedert’s touchdown in the third quarter. He nailed 30- and 32-yard field goals in the fourth quarter. The kicker has now missed two extra-point attempts and eight field-goal tries this year.
