Belly dancing, grilled camel, and Jennifer Slay’s banana pudding. Eagles tailgaters stepped up for the playoffs.

It was a party in the parking lots ahead of Sunday’s game. Here are the craziest, funniest, and most unique things we found while tailgating with Eagles fans.

Every Eagles tailgate shares the same goal: get fans excited before the big game. But not every Eagles tailgate does it the same way. Through Lots C to M, each tailgate has unique ways of celebrating and socializing ahead of kickoff.

Some stick to famous recipes and your traditional tailgate food while others serve high-end cuisines. And some tailgates even feature their own … unique … entertainment. Ahead of Sunday’s divisional-round game, we walked through the parking lots for four hours, and let’s just say we witnessed a lot. Here are the most fun and interesting things we found while tailgating with Eagles fans.

Camel on the menu

Lamb chops, dinner dogs, veggie dogs — and camel? This was the menu in Lot M ahead of Sunday’s game at Lincoln Financial Field. While many fans may focus on the drinking experience of a tailgate, 38-year-old Dylan Marck puts more emphasis on the food.

Marck, a lawyer and self-taught chef, has been serving high-end cuisines such as lobster, pressed duck, and steak at Philly tailgates since 2022 — all for free to anyone who shows up. And just as each week brings a new opponent for the Eagles, it also brings a new dish to the table. This week’s centerpiece: Camel.

″I would imagine this is the first time camel has been cooked anywhere near here,” Marck said. “It tastes like beef but it’s kind of chewy so we’re going to try to keep the temperature low to keep it more tender, and then we’re going to go from there.”

This was Marck’s first time making camel, but the amateur chef was excited for the new challenge.

”There’s a first time for everything,” Marck said. “And how often can you say you’ve had camel. And how often can you say you’ve had camel in a parking lot.”

As this tailgate continues to grow in popularity — even actor Robert De Niro made an appearance in November — Marck will continue to bring new experiences to his community.

Jennifer Slay hands out her signature banana pudding

The hype is real. Jennifer Slay’s banana pudding recipe is that good.

It was starting to feel like her legendary recipe was as powerful as the One Ring from Lord of the Rings — and so mythical it didn’t exist. Fans have been trying to get their hands on some for a while, and on Sunday they finally did, finding their way through the freezing cold and chilling winds of Lot H1 to their precious pudding.

The wife of Eagles cornerback Darius Slay was handing out her famous banana pudding alongside Kelee Ringo’s mom, Tralee Hale-Ringo, who was recently reunited with her stolen dog.

″I like to come out and see all the fans,” Jennifer said. “It’s just a party before the game. Everybody always asks me to bring the banana pudding. They’re like, ‘I want to try, I want to try.’ So I brought it out.”

Her banana pudding has been a hit with the players as well.

Last season, Jennifer made the team banana pudding every Friday, turning it into a weekly ritual. She said she continued that tradition this season — and now some fans have had the chance to enjoy some for themselves.

Belly dancing into Sunday’s game

Some of the gear worn ahead of Sunday’s game included big puffer jackets, ski suits, and plenty of beanies and scarves as fans prepared for the cold weather heading into the game.

Another outfit spotted among the crowd was a bit less expected: traditional belly dancing attire.

Gianmarco Martuscelli, owner of Chesapeake Inn Restaurant in Chesapeake City, Md., hosts tailgates before every Eagles home game, but Sunday’s event was a little more special for two reasons — it wasn’t just a playoff game, it was his 50th birthday.

This was the second time he decided to bring out a belly dancer: the first was the Eagles’ Dec. 15 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

”Philadelphia sports just brings everybody together,” Martuscelli said. “Everybody’s so excited because guess what? We have the opportunity to host a championship game here next week. That’s why we wanted to do something big. Next week we’ll do something even better. We’ll do it all.”

Swoop, is that you?

While wandering the parking lots you can spot quite a few fans dressed to the nines — but none stood out quite like 42-year-old Jeff Golden. Golden wore a furry Spyder ski suit to stay warm in the 30-degree weather. He already had the suit in his closet from when he would ski competitively in his 20s.

Golden first wore the outfit at an Eagles playoff game against the New Orleans Saints in 2013. Since then, the look has evolved — he’s added beads, a cape, and an Eagle head to complete the look.

Golden has collected quite a number of memories wearing his furry ski suit — including proposing to his wife, Tania Salaneck.

“I actually proposed to my wife while wearing this,” Golden said. “The Packers game two years ago, I did it right on the field so it was an amazing experience. She said yes, while I was wearing this.”

But don’t worry, he took the Eagles head off before getting down on one knee.

Rams fans traveled from L.A.

Perhaps the craziest thing we saw all day: a few real-life Rams fans in Eagles territory.

Eddie Salinas, 46, and his friend Jay M., 49, flew in from Los Angeles yesterday. The two have been friends for 27 years and are Rams season-ticket holders and travel to every Rams away game.

“It hasn’t been too hostile,” Salinas said. “There’s been some good trash-talking. I have a friend who is a huge Eagles fan and he told me to be careful out here, but it’s been pretty fun. I think Eagles fans have a bad reputation, but they’re OK. They’ve been friendly offering us food and offering us drinks. We’ve had an amazing time.”

It’s a good thing they enjoyed the pregame festivities, considering how the game turned out for the Rams.
