The Eagles officially signed all five of their draft picks, and an additional 10 undrafted free agents on Thursday.
Here’s everything you need to know about the 10 players fighting to make the Eagles roster after not hearing their name called during the 2019 NFL draft.
Linebacker Joey Alfieri
School: Stanford | Height: 6-foot-3 | Weight: 239 | Jersey: 50
Alfieri was a 3-4 edge rusher at Stanford, but could play outside linebacker in the Eagles’ attacking 4-3 scheme. He tallied 165 tackles, 14 sacks, and two interceptions in 50 games.
Offensive Lineman Ryan Bates
School: Penn State | Height: 6-4 | Weight: 302 | Jersey: 74
Bates is a Warrington, Pennsylvania native who played his high school ball at Archbishop Wood. He went undrafted after being named third-team all-Big Ten the last two seasons while playing left and right tackle for the Nittany Lions. He also has experience at guard.
Linebacker T.J. Edwards
School: Wisconsin | Height: 6-1 | Weight: 242 | Jersey: 57
Edwards could help fill a need the Eagles didn’t fill during the draft at inside linebacker. He was a first-team All-Big Ten selection as a senior, and he started 52 of 53 career games, second-most in school history. He had 10 career interceptions, a school record.
Wide receiver DeAndre Thompkins
School: Penn State | Height: 5-11 | Weight: 188 | Jersey: 1
Thompkins is the fourth Nittany Lion on the Eagles’ roster. It’s possible the Eagles liked what they saw from him as a punt returner while at Penn State, as he returned two punts for touchdowns.
Offensive Guard Nate Herbig
School: Stanford | Height: 6-4 | Weight: 334 | Jersey: 67
Herbig earned All-Pac 12 honors twice, playing multiple positions along the offensive line in his senior year (right guard and right tackle).
Guard Sua Opeta
School: Weber State | Height: 6-4 | Weight: 305 | Jersey: 78
After switching from defensive line to offensive line in 2016, Opeta became an FCS All-American in two straight seasons at left tackle.
Center Keegan Render
School: Iowa | Height: 6-4 | Weight: 307 | Jersey: 64
Render earned third-team All-Big Ten honors as a senior, and has played both guard spots while with the Hawkeyes.
Running back Nico Evans
School: Wymong | Height: 5-9 | Weight: 211 | Jersey: 41
Evans had 1,325 rushing yards and eight touchdowns his senior season, he’s also shown a capability to play in the slot and on special teams as a kick returner.
Defensive Tackle Kevin Wilkins
School: Rutgers | Height: 6-2 | Weight: 304 | Jersey: 78
Wilkins played in 47 games with the Scarlet Knights
Led the defensive line with 50 tackles in 2018 after starting all 11 games at defensive end. Played 47 games in his college career.
Defensive Tackle Anthony Rush
School: UAB | Height: 6-5 | Weight: 350 | Jersey: 66
Rush tallied 43 tackles and two sacks last season. He spent the last two years with UAB after transferring from Northeast Mississippi Community College.
