Jason Kelce stars in a musical Christmas beer commercial with Philly’s Silver Ages choir
The ad for the Kelce bros' Garage Beer features the a cappella choir who also sing on 'A Philly Special Christmas Party.'
Jason Kelce has debuted a commercial for Garage Beer, which he partly owns with his brother Travis. The video features Philly’s The Silver Ages choir, led by Philly Specials producer and The War On Drugs drummer Charlie Hall.
The clever Christmassy clip finds Kelce headed to the fridge — in his garage, of course — where he starts singing a song called “O Beer” to himself, sung to the tune of “The First Noel,” the hymn of Cornish origins that, which in this case, has been super simplified to the extent that its only lyrics are in its title.
As the former Eagles center and star of A Philly Special Christmas Party pops open a can of the brew from Columbus, Ohio, he’s joined in song by a crowd of carolers who turn out to be an expanded version of the Silver Ages, the a cappella choir led by Hall.
Along with Hall, the group of carolers include Dr. Dog’s Zach Miller, The War On Drugs’ Eliza Hardy Jones and Philly musicians John Howkins and Michael Kiley, among others. Miraculously, they all know the two words of the song, singing along ”O Beer, O Beer, O Beer, O Beer …” After the music’s over, Travis Kelce calls in wanting to be a part of the commercial. But he is too late and has already missed his chance at musical fame.
Kelce and his Philly Special fellow singers Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson went on a tour of Philly schools on Tuesday, implementing their plan to give a gift to every student and teacher at Philadelphia’s public and charter schools this holiday season. Kelce’s new show They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce debuts Jan. 3.
