Jason Kelce’s Christmas movie hot take, a guest appearance from Kylie, and more from ‘New Heights’

In a blind ranking of Christmas movies, Jason, Kylie, and Travis Kelce were in agreement on No. 1. But it wasn't included among the candidates.

Love actually isn’t all around for Jason Kelce, who took to his New Heights podcast on Tuesday to discuss how Love Actually might be what he called “the worst Christmas movie” he’s ever seen.

“I don’t even know that it’s up for debate,” Kelce said. “There was zero Christmas spirit or anything resembling.”

The former Eagles center took issue with the 2003 British rom-com’s lack of family values, but his wife, Kylie Kelce, had a different view in defense of one of her favorite movies.

“The whole point is they put together a collection of storylines surrounding the holidays because the holidays are sensationalized,” Kylie said in her guest appearance on the podcast. “In adult life, you realize the holidays aren’t as jolly, and real life doesn’t stop because of the holidays.”

Jason’s brother, Travis Kelce, was somewhere in the middle and called it a “fun one to watch.”

“I was enjoying following along to all the stories,” Travis said. “I also was kind of with Jason on some of them, like, ‘This is a little far-fetched.’”

But Jason quickly changed his tune when the conversation shifted to a review of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, one of Jason’s top-three Christmas movies which Travis called “one of the greatest Christmas movies of all time.”

“The older you get, the funnier it gets, the more relatable it gets, especially once you start having kids of your own. Once you’re married,” Jason said.

It even caused a little self-reflection.

“I always thought I was Clark Griswold. Am I Cousin Eddie?” Jason asked his brother during the review. “Like when I come to your house, am I Cousin Eddie?”

But he was quickly assured that he is, in fact the Clark Griswold of the Kelce family.

The trio closed out the Christmas Eve episode by doing a blind ranking of Christmas films which included some more mixed feelings on classics like Miracle on 34th Street, It’s a Wonderful Life, and The Santa Clause. There even was an exchange of words and obscenities over A Muppets Christmas Carol, but not without taking some more digs at Love Actually.

“You’re saying this movie is worse than Jingle All the Way? You’re out of your mind,” Jason said of the Muppets film. “We still have Love Actually coming up, we have to leave space down there for Love Actually.”

The only thing they agreed on was that The Grinch belonged at No. 1. Unluckily for them, the film didn’t make the list of movies they’d be ranking.

“Ten of the most popular Christmas movies, and you didn’t include The Grinch is a travesty,” Kylie said.

The final ranking finished with Home Alone at the top of the list. It’s a Wonderful Life was No. 2, while A Christmas Story took third. The Santa Clause, Elf, Christmas Vacation, and The Nightmare Before Christmas took four through seven, in that order. Jingle All the Way, A Muppets Christmas Carol, and Love Actually rounded out the bottom three.

“I thought this was going to be a really bad list, but it’s actually not a bad list,” Travis said of the ranking.

Jason added: “I think it’s pretty accurate other than Christmas Vacation should be above Elf and Santa Clause.

So if all you wanted for Christmas was to know the Jason Kelce’s thoughts on Christmas movie classics, there you have it.
