After a loss to the Atlanta Falcons at home, the Eagles recovered with a 15-12 win over the Saints in New Orleans. The Birds defense shut down a high-powered Saints offense to pick up the much-needed victory. And that was enough for the Eagles to move up in most power rankings. Here’s where things stand after Week 3 ...

The Eagles made quite the jump in Fox Sports’ power rankings, moving up three spots from No. 7 to No. 4. But it was far from their biggest move.

What they’re saying: “I'm choosing to be encouraged by the Eagles rediscovering how to pull one out of the fire. It didn’t need to be as close as it was, but the Eagles had been finding ways to lose nail-biters instead of winning them. Feels like progress to be on the other end of one.” — David Helman

The Eagles moved up to the fifth spot in NFL.com’s weekly power rankings, one spot above where they were last week.

What they’re saying: “Vic Fangio's front got the job done well against New Orleans. The Eagles also made life tough on Derek Carr and the Saints’ passing game, turning in one of the better all-around defensive performances in the Nick Sirianni era.” — Eric Edholm

Last week, the Eagles fell to the No. 9 spot in Bleacher Report’s power rankings. Now, they reclaim their No. 5 spot after defeating the Saints behind another strong performance from Saquon Barkley

What they’re saying: "With the Eagles pass-catchers decimated by injuries, Philly badly needed running back Barkley to step up. He did — carrying the Eagles to victory … He piled up 147 yards on 17 carries and scored both of Philly's touchdowns — including a 65-yarder that was Philly's first points of the day."

What they’re saying: “Per Next Gen Stats, Barkley's pivotal 65-yard TD sprint Sunday was the most remarkable run of the young season, spanning 62 yards further than expected.” — Nate Davis

The Eagles moved up in Sporting News power rankings, two spots above where they were a week ago.

What they’re saying: “The Eagles dug deep defensively to contain an explosive Saints offense and made the big play at the end. They also got more inventive around Jalen Hurts with some mounting injuries to the offense. That was a huge, much-needed road win.” — Vinnie Iyer

Despite a win, Jalen Hurts' ball security remains an issue. This leaves the Eagles in the same spot as last week's ESPN power rankings, No. 6.

What they’re saying: “Hurts has thrown four interceptions and been charged with three fumbles through three games. He has 12 turnovers in his past nine regular-season games, the most in the league, and has thrown an interception in seven straight, the most by an Eagles quarterback since Ty Detmer in 1996.” — Tim McManus

The Eagles took a big jump up from last week’s CBS Sports power rankings. The Birds climbed 11 spots — up from No. 18 — as they now sit behind the Texans and the Steelers in seventh.

What they’re saying: “That late-game touchdown to beat the Saints really changes the dynamic of their season. At 2-1, they are good heading to Tampa. At 1-2, things would be a lot different.” — Pete Prisco
