What happens if the Eagles win?

If the Eagles beat the Packers, they will advance to the divisional round, where they’ll face the second lowest remaining seed — the Detroit Lions would face the lowest seed — on either Jan. 18 or Jan. 19 at the Linc. The only team they can’t face in the division round is the Washington Commanders, who as the lowest overall seed would automatically go to Detroit if they advance. That means the Eagles could face the third-seed Tampa Bay Buccaneers, fourth-seed Los Angeles Rams, or fifth-seed Minnesota Vikings.

The two divisional-round winners then face off in the NFC championship game, which will be played on Jan. 26 at 3 p.m. If the Eagles win the divisional-round game, they would have home-field advantage in the NFC title game if a lower-seeded team advances against the top-seeded Lions. If the Lions win, the Eagles would play for the NFC championship at Ford Field in Detroit.

The Super Bowl will be played at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m.

Were the Eagles expected to get here?

After the Eagles' late-season collapse and wild-card loss in 2023, many were hesitant about how good the team would be heading into the season, even with the big addition of star running back Saquon Barkley. The team got off to a 2-2 start, including a late-game collapse against Atlanta and a drubbing in Tampa.

But since their Week 5 bye week, the Eagles have dominated their schedule, winning 12 of their final 13 games, including a 10-game winning streak. Barkley put up the ninth 2,000-rushing yard season in NFL history and new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio crafted the Birds into the NFL’s top-ranked defense. The Eagles clinched a playoff spot on Dec. 8 and locked up the No. 2 seed in the NFC — and the NFC East title — a few weeks later in the season’s penultimate game.

Will Jalen Hurts play?

Hurts was knocked out of the loss to the Commanders on Dec. 22 and placed in concussion protocol, missing the final two games of the season against the Cowboys and the Giants. Kenny Pickett started at quarterback against Dallas before he left with a rib injury, and Tanner McKee played the final quarter against the Cowboys and started against the Giants.

Final updates on Hurts should come later in the week by the Friday injury report, and an update could come sooner as he progresses through the concussion protocol. But it’s the playoffs — he’ll certainly do everything he can to start.

Are there any other big injuries to know about?

The Eagles are mostly in good health. Aside from Hurts and Pickett, the Birds rested most of their starters in Week 18 and the key contributors are all expected to be available.

On the other hand, the Packers lost receiver Christian Watson and cornerback Jaire Alexander to season-ending knee injuries.

What are the Eagles' chances against the Packers?

The Birds beat the Packers, 34-29, in the season opener in Saõ Paulo, Brazil. Hurts had a shaky start to the game, with two turnovers on the first two possessions, but settled in, and Barkley scored three touchdowns in his first game with the Eagles. Oddsmakers see a similar outcome on Sunday, with the Eagles being 4.5-point favorites at FanDuel.

ESPN’s Football Power Index model sees the game as a coin flip, giving the Eagles a 51.2% chance to win.

What are the Eagles’ Super Bowl odds?

The Eagles have the fifth-best Super Bowl odds among the 14 teams to make the playoffs — and the second best in the NFC, behind only the Detroit Lions (+320). The Eagles’ +650 odds mean that a $100 wager on them wins $650.

Here’s a look at some of the top contenders and their odds (NFC teams in bold):

  1. Lions: +320

  2. Kansas City Chiefs: +370

  3. Baltimore Ravens: +550

  4. Buffalo Bills: +600

  5. Eagles: +650

  6. Minnesota Vikings: +1400

  7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: +2200

  8. Packers: +2200

What were the best moments this season?

If you haven’t watched a Birds game yet this year, you’ve missed some fun ones.

There was Barkley’s unreal backward hurdle against the Jaguars …

… and Nakobe Dean’s game-sealing interception in the same game.

On Dec. 29 against Dallas, backup quarterback Tanner McKee threw his first career touchdown pass to A.J. Brown, who promptly threw the ball into the stands. Brown and Eagles chief security officer “Big Dom” DiSandro pulled off a successful negotiation to get the ball back.

Hurts wore two different shoes on multiple occasions, first after a shoe malfunction and then on purpose. The second time, the NFL promoted him on its social media ― and promptly fined him $5,628, which his sponsor, Jordan Brand, happily paid.

And way, way more. With 14 wins, there’s a lot to celebrate.
