‘Saquon Barkley for president of the universe’: Former players and famous fans react to the Eagles’ win
In two games against the Rams this season, Eagles running back Saquon Barkley combined for 460 yards and four touchdowns.
What more can you say about Saquon Barkley that hasn’t already been said?
After his 205-yard, two-touchdown performance in the snow against the Rams on Sunday, it turns out the answer is quite a bit.
Pregame, ESPN reporter Sal Paolantonio said he spoke with LeSean McCoy, who rushed for a then-franchise-record 217 yards in the snow against the Lions in 2013. The former Eagles running back said he reached out to Barkley before the game to give him “the recipe” for playing in the snowy conditions.
Barkley then put on a show of his own, and McCoy posted on X that he thinks the Birds are going all the way.
It wasn’t very sunny at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, but after watching that game, Rob McElhenney wants Barkley for MVP, President, everything.

Former Giants defensive end Justin Tuck was sick watching Barkley’s 78-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter, wondering aloud why the Giants hadn’t invested the money to keep their former No. 2 overall pick on the roster.
Jalen Carter made maybe the most clutch play of the game, sacking Matthew Stafford on third down in the red zone on the final drive. Penn State defensive end and Philly native Abdul Carter was impressed.
Lane Johnson took one final parting shot at Rams defensive end Jared Verse, who’d said during the week leading up to the game that he “hates” Eagles fans.
Now, the Birds will play one last home game this season, with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. A few members of the Eagles’ Super Bowl LII team shared their excitement after Sunday’s big win.
Plus a few bonus Phillies who are champions in their own right.
The Birds play next at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Linc in the NFC Championship game against the Commanders.
