The Eagles are one win away from a Super Bowl appearance. With a victory on Sunday, they’ll claim the NFC title and can begin to prepare for a trip to New Orleans. But there’s just one thing standing in their way: the Washington Commanders.

The teams have met twice this season, splitting the series, but the Eagles still enter Sunday as six-point favorites. Ahead of the game, former Patriots quarterback and current Fox broadcaster Tom Brady joined his former coach, Bill Belichick, and Jim Gray on SiriusXM’s Let’s Go! podcast, where the two future Hall of Famers weighed in on the third — and most important — meeting of the season between the Eagles and Commanders.

“Washington, they’re kind of playing with the house’s money,” said Brady, who will be in the broadcast booth on Sunday. “They’ve got a really close team. They’re going to fight to the end and the young quarterback, if he goes and plays flawless, it’s going to come down to one drive at the end of the game.”

The Jayden Daniels-led Commanders have proved they aren’t an easy team to beat, defeating the Eagles last month after Jalen Hurts left early with a concussion. Washington is also coming off a thrilling 45-31 upset win over the top-seeded Detroit Lions.

But Brady believes this Eagles team is a tougher challenge than the Lions for one reason: defense.

“The difference in this game, with the Lions and the Commanders and the Commanders and the Eagles, is the Eagles got a really great defense,” Brady said. “They got a D-line that can make an impact. They can stop the run without having to shove extra bodies up there. We’ll see how the injuries in the Eagles secondary — if [Quinyon] Mitchell can play — how that affects them.

“Certainly the Eagles are the favorite for a reason. They’ve had an incredible season. … If the Eagles play well, I think they’re moving on.”

Although the Eagles had some offensive struggles in their two postseason games against the Green Bay Packers and the Los Angeles Rams, Belichick also believes the Birds are the stronger team heading into Sunday.

“I think the Eagles have the better team,” he said. “If they play well, don’t turn the ball over, and don’t make any big backbreaking mistakes, I think they have the better team. But Washington’s dangerous, and certainly if Philadelphia is sloppy in their execution or communication, Washington’s more than capable of creating some problems for them.”

The Commanders created problems for the Eagles in that last meeting, a come-from-behind win that saw Washington erase a 27-14 fourth-quarter deficit and end the game with a go-ahead touchdown with six seconds remaining.

But Belichick believes the Eagles will be more prepared this time around as they get ready to host a dangerous Commanders team.

“I don’t think Philadelphia is going to play conservatively, I don’t mean it that way,” Belichick said. “I just mean they just have to execute to the level that they’re capable of doing and I think they’ll be all right.”
