Ex-Eagles QB Nick Foles, wife Tori suffer miscarriage
Tori Foles said pneumonia caused her to go into labor early, and she miscarried at 15 weeks.
Tori Foles, the wife of Eagles Super Bowl MVP Nick, suffered a miscarriage at 15 weeks last weekend.
According to an Instagram post she published Wednesday night, she went into sudden labor on Sunday after contracting “an infection of pneumonia in the blood.”
She called labor, delivery and seeing their child -- a boy -- “a devastating process.”
“We’ve endured some unique challenges as a couple so far, but never quite knew what something like this felt like and now we do,” Tori wrote. “We have so much compassion and sensitivity to those who have gone through a miscarriage at any point and in any circumstance. We know they all happen very differently.”
Tori wrote that she and Nick are healing physically and emotionally “from this traumatic loss. This will take time.”
Nick, now with the Jaguars, missed Tuesday’s OTA in Jacksonville for what the team called “a personal reason." Coach Doug Marrone said “our thoughts and prayers are with Nick and his family" but offered no other details.
Visiting the Foles over the weekend was Eagles quarterbacks coach Press Taylor and his wife, Brooklyn.
The Foles have a daughter, Lily. Tori’s pregnancy with Lily helped the family decide to settle in Philadelphia, where they felt comfortable.
“Ultimately, we decided that Philly was our home once before, and we loved it. We loved the people here, we loved the city,” Nick said about his choice to sign with the Eagles in 2017. “What better place to be when we bring our daughter into the world? That was the big decision.”
The timing couldn’t have been more perfect for Foles: In Carson Wentz’s absence, he stepped up and led the Eagles to their first Super Bowl en route to being named game MVP.
