Megan Thee Stallion will bring her ‘Hot Girl Summer’ tour to Philadelphia
The Houston rapper will be at the Wells Fargo Center with GloRilla opening.
Houston powerhouse Megan Thee Stallion will bring all the Philadelphia hotties to the Wells Fargo Center on May 22 for her “Hot Girl Summer” tour, the rapper announced Wednesday. This is her first headlining tour, and Tennessee rapper GloRilla will be her opener for all U.S. stops.
Megan Thee Stallion’s dominance in the rap game is undeniable: The brash, smart lyricist has earned six Grammy nods in recent years, winning in 2021 for best new artist, as well as best rap song, and rap performance for the Beyoncé remix of “Savage.” Her albums Good News and Traumazine have featured collaborations with other big hitters, including SZA, City Girls, 2 Chainz, and Cardi B.
Megan Thee Stallion spits verses of playful, if shocking, sexuality (“WAP”), immense strength after being shot by her then-boyfriend Tory Lanez (“Shots Fired”), and bracing vulnerability about her own mental health struggles (“Anxiety”). Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the assault last fall.
Her latest single, “Hiss,” from her not-yet-released third album, delivers an explosive, scathing takedown of her haters, provoking a diss track in response from Nicki Minaj.
Amid all the recent drama, Megan Thee Stallion has continued to make progress in and out of the studio. This spring, Planned Parenthood will grant her the Catalyst for Change Award, recognizing her advocacy for women and mental health.
She will start her 31-stop tour in Minneapolis on May 14 and end as a headliner for D.C.’s Broccoli City Music Festival on July 27. General tickets go on sale starting Friday at 10 a.m. on the tour website. The presale for Citi card members opens on Wednesday, March 20, at 1 p.m. and ends on Thursday, March 21, at 10 p.m.
