Dave Hause’s Sing Us Home fest will return to Manayunk, with Bouncing Souls, Speedy Ortiz, Buzz Zeemer, and more
The Venice Island gathering will also feature Frank Turner, Ocean Avenue Stompers, and 'fictional screamo band' Mary's Morning Deathbed.
The lineup has been announced for the third annual edition of Dave Hause’s Sing Us Home, the music festival that will kick off the outdoor music season in Philadelphia with a weekend full of bands playing Venice Island in Manayunk from May 2-4.
This year’s headliners are long standing New Jersey punk rock band Bouncing Souls, impassioned English songwriter Frank Turner, and Hause with his backing band The Mermaid.
The fest will once again be a Philly-focused homecoming for Hause, who was raised up the Manayunk wall in Roxborough and now lives in southern California.
The fest kicks off on a Friday night with the all-hands-on-stage guitar pull branded as the Hause Family Campfire which this year will feature Hause, his younger bother Tim, Dan Andriano of Alkaline Trio, and Arizona folk-punk band AJJ, who were formerly known as Andrew Jackson Jihad.
Other attractions performing throughout the weekend include Speedy Ortiz, the Sadie Dupuis-led four piece who have really been embracing their Philly-ness with a succession of local gigs of late, and Buzz Zeemer, the Frank Brown and Tommy Conwell-led power pop quartet that reunited last year to mark the release of its terrific rediscovered Lost & Found album.
Speaking of reunions, Sing Us Home will host a unique one.
Mary’s Morning Deathbed was billed as “a fictional screamo band from Piscataway, N.J.” on an episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers when they unleashed their one and only performance of a punk rock cover of Robert Frost’s 1923 poem “Stopping By the Woods On a Snowy Evening.” Their Sing Us Home performance is billed as “a one time only reunion.”
Also on the bill of the fest, which was staged in glorious spring weather in 2023 and on a soggy weekend last year: Philly band Quarry, Maryland songwriter Black Guy Fawkes, John Gallagher Jr., Mobley and Asbury Park brass band Ocean Avenue Stompers.
The fest is produced in partnership with Rising Sun Presents. Food will be from Federal Donuts, Humpty’s Dumplings, Calaveras Tacos, and Winnies. Tickets are available at singushomefestival.com.
