Jennifer Hudson and Meghan Trainor will headline Wawa Welcome America
The concert is one free event among more than 50 planned for this year’s Wawa Welcome America festivities, which will run June 29 through July 4.
The annual Wawa Welcome America festival concert will return July 4th on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway with headliners Jennifer Hudson and Meghan Trainor, organizers announced via social media today.
Hudson, who won an Academy Award in 2006 for her role in Dreamgirls, and Trainor, known for 2014′s “All About That Bass,” will take the stage starting at 7 p.m. alongside the Philly POPS Big Band, festival sponsor NBC10 reports. The station will broadcast the stars’ performances live though 10 p.m., ending with a fireworks display.
The concert is one free event among more than 50 planned for this year’s Wawa Welcome America festivities, which will run June 29 through July 4. An announcement regarding the additional events is forthcoming.
The morning ahead of Hudson and Trainor’s performance, Philly native Patti LaBelle will join the Mayor’s Celebration of Freedom Ceremony.
Hudson and Trainor are the latest stars to headline the annual festival, which last year featured Mr. Worldwide himself, rapper Pitbull. Previous iterations of Wawa Welcome America, which celebrates its 27th year going in 2019, have nabbed stars like Mary J. Blige, Philly’s own Boyz II Men, and Elton John.
