NHL trade deadline: Flyers fumble trading James van Riemsdyk, make two minor deals
The Flyers didn't trade JVR, but did make a pair of moves prior to the deadline, dealing fourth-line forward Zack MacEwen to the Kings and sending fellow forward Patrick Brown to the Senators.

The Flyers failed to move left wing James van Riemsdyk before Friday's trade deadline.
The Flyers were expected to be sellers ahead of the NHL’s trade deadline, but failed to make the big move many were expecting — trading 33-year-old forward James van Riemsdyk.
The Flyers did make a pair of deals, however. They came in just under the wire, trading forward Patrick Brown to the Senators shortly before the deadline. Earlier in the day, they made a swap with the Kings involving a pair of fourth-liners, sending Zack MacEwen to Los Angeles for Brendan Lemieux and a fifth-round draft pick.
Previously, the Flyers had only made one minor move, trading AHL player Isaac Ratcliffe to the Nashville Predators for future considerations.
The Flyers were also reportedly taking trade calls for Ivan Provorov, the team’s No. 1 defenseman.
