The 17-year-old boy who was shot and killed Wednesday night in Northeast Philadelphia has been identified as Michael Campbell, of the 2200 block of Norwood Street in South Philadelphia, police said.

Campbell was gunned down about 9:35 p.m. on the 1800 block of Pratt Street in East Frankford. Police found him lying in the front driveway of a house, near a garage. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said a handgun was found inches from Campbell's hand, and nearby, at the intersection of Valley Street, police found eight spent shell casings from a semiautomatic weapon. It was not immediately clear where those shell casings had come from, police said.

Police said Thursday morning they have no motive for the slaying and reported no arrests.
