Saturday’s South Jersey Roundup: Rancocas Valley wins boys and girls’ Burlington County Open track titles

Rancocas Valley scored 166 points to win the Burlington County Open girls’ track and field championship on Saturday. The Red Devils had 109 more points than second-place Shawnee and beat the meet record of 162 points set by Lenape in 2015.

Rancocas Valley’s Sheriyah Nutt won the 100-meter dash in 12.34 seconds. Rancocas Valley took the top three spots in the 200. Nutt finished first in 25.36 seconds, Brianna Snowden placed second and Anabella Chin finished third. Snowden won the 400 hurdles in 1:02.86.

The Red Devils won the 4-x-100 and the 4-x-400. Makiah Warren, Kristina Tossas, Ta’Shay Bertino and Breacain McClenahan won the 4-x-100 in 49.8 seconds. Nutt ran the final leg on the winning 4-x-400 team.

Tossas won the long jump with a 16-foot, 10 1/2-inch leap on her final attempt. Ravin Hood won the discus throw.

Willingboro’s Kenady Wilson had a strong meet, winning the high jump and the triple jump.

Paul VI won the large division Camden County title with 108 points. The Eagles beat second-place Timber Creek by 34 points.

Paul VI’s Bridget Lyons won the 3,200 in 11:47.52. Aliya Rae Garozzo won the 400 hurdles in 1:02.42 to beat the meet record 1:02.93 set in 2016 by Sterling’s Sydney Coppolino.

Garozzo also ran the final leg on Paul VI’s winning 4-x-400 relay. She, Carly Schmidt, Blair Daniel and Abigail Lutz won the race in 3:55.51 to beat the meet record set by Haddonfield in 2015. Aaliyah Vandergrift won the pole vault for the Eagles.

Woodrow Wilson’s Dennisha Page won the 200 and the 400 and finished second in the 100.

Haddonfield won the Camden County small division championship, beating second-place Collingswood, 130-123. Lindsay Colflesh won the 400 in 59.13 seconds, just 0.52 seconds ahead of Collingswood’s Jaaliyah Evans.

Olivia Stoner won the 800 and Lilly Sirover placed second for Haddonfield. Sarah Naticchia won the 1,600 in 5:04.53 and finished second in the 3,200 behind her teammate Payton Weiner.

Weiner, Stoner and Lindsay and Allison Colflesh won the 4-x-400 in 4:04.45, nearly seven seconds ahead of the second-place team. Jennifer Scott won the pole vault for Haddonfield.

Boys’ Track and Field

Rancocas Valley won the Burlington County Open by a 62-point margin over second-place Willingboro.

Rancocas Valley’s Trai Matlock and Jalen Blango took the top two spots in the long jump. Micah Wood and Jordon Floyd finished first and second in the triple jump.

Jesse Eadric’s 51-foot, 7 1/2-inch throw won the shot put for the Red Devils. McQuain Hood won the javelin throw with a 171-foot, eight-inch throw.

Willingboro’s Jayaire King won the 110 hurdles in 14.484 seconds, beating Burlington Township’s Donovan Wright by two-thousandths of a second. He also won the 400 hurdles and ran the second leg on Willingboro’s winning 4-x-400 team.

Cherry Hill East won the Camden County large division championship, 101-96, over second-place Highland.

Oliver Adler won the 1,600 in 4:23.29. Marc Andre won the 110 hurdles in 15.59 seconds. Nicholas Kokolis won the discus with a 149-foot, eight-inch throw.

Haddonfield won the Camden County small division championship, 114-95, over second-place Haddon Township.

Martin Riddell set a meet record in the 3,200 with a time of 9:24.2. He beat the 9:25.74 time run by Haddonfield’s Tim Malloy in 2011.

Kurt Wolff won the pole vault by clearing 13 feet, 6 inches.

Haddonfield’s Derek Gess won the 1,600 in 4:23.28, and his teammate Greg Eisenhower placed second in 4:27.11.

Gess also ran the third leg on the winning 4-x-400 relay team. He, Sean Campiglia, Ryan Angstadt and Ethan Spellmeyer finished four-hundredths of a second ahead of Haddon Heights.

Boys’ Lacrosse

Washington Township won the Gloucester County Cup for the first time since 2011 by beating West Deptford, 7-6. GianLuca Lockhart scored the game-winning goal with 5.4 seconds left off a pass from Nick Flamma.

Ocean City shut out Seneca in the second half of its 14-2 win. Noam Levy-Smith led all scorers with four goals. Trent Laveson, Christian Kuhn and Anthony Inserra each scored twice. Kuhn and Jake Schneider each had three assists. Billy Kroeger scooped 11 ground balls and won 18 of his 19 faceoffs to help Ocean City maintain possession.

Softball

Gloucester hit home runs in the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings to beat Pennsville, 3-2. Winning pitcher Vanesa Pino’s homer in the eighth inning walked it off. Pino allowed just five hits and didn’t walk a batter over eight innings. Arianna Davis hit a homer in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game. Emilee Hillman went 2-for-4 and drove in the Lions’ other run. The Lions finished the season undefeated in the Tri-County Conference’s Diamond Division with the win.

Delsea’s Jenna Cetin had three RBIs as the Crusaders beat Burlington Township, 5-0, in a non-league game. Kaylin Power drove in Delsea’s other two runs. Alexis Harkins hit a triple for the Crusaders.

Baseball

Camden Catholic scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to beat Moorestown, 7-6. Tim Sawn earned the win in relief for the Irish. Henry Daverso and Colin Hughes each went 3-for-4 for Camden Catholic. Rob Damerjian and Brian McMonagle homered for Moorestown.

Dylan Maria hit his 10th homer of the season as Highland beat Haddon Heights, 10-0. Maria had three RBIs. Winning pitcher Dan Robeson allowed only one hit.

Paul VI beat Haddon Township, 4-0. The Eagles scored two runs in the fourth and sixth innings. John Ormsby had an RBI. Winning pitcher Aiden Weitzel struck out eight in his complete-game win.

Ocean City beat Haverford High, 10-3. Brandon Lashley hit two doubles and had an RBI. M.J. Ginn had a triple and two RBIs. Shane Ferry, Joe Repetti and Brian Beckmann each had an RBI for Ocean City.

King’s Christian beat Maple Shade, 9-1. Eastern University recruit Dylan Hanni struck out nine over six innings.
