Southeastern Pa. football rankings: St. Joseph’s Prep stays on top in Week 2 Top 10
St. Joseph Prep holds down top spot, followed by surging Whippets and Explorers.
Here’s the first live Top 10 ranking for Southeastern Pennsylvania high school football:

1. St. Joseph Prep (1) 0-1
Junior quarterback Kyle McCord finished with 219 passing yards and two touchdowns in a 21-17 loss at Marietta (Ga.) in a nationally televised opener for the Hawks. St. Joe’s meets another national power in St. John’s College of Washington, D.C., in the Rumble at the Raritan at Rutgers on Friday night.

2. Downingtown West (5) 2-0
The Whippets are averaging 38 points behind senior quarterback Will Howard, a Kansas State recruit, and senior running back Tyriq Lewis. Downingtown West has a test at Neshaminy on Friday.
3. La Salle (NR) 2-0
The Explorers are off to a flying start, with victories over preseason Top 5 teams Imhotep Charter and North Penn. In Friday night’s 42-6 win over North Penn, sophomore Samuel Brown scored five touchdowns. La Salle hosts Malvern Prep in a key clash Saturday afternoon.
4. Coatesville (2) 0-1
The Red Raiders had a week off after a frustrating 14-6 loss to Harrisburg in a season-opening clash of PIAA Class 6 A state powers. Ricky Ortega, Dapree Bryant and Co. look to get back on track this Friday at Cumberland Valley.
5. Northeast (NR) 2-0
The Vikings’ defense forced nine turnovers in a 36-0 win over Haverford School. Shuayb Brinkley, Tyrece Mills, and Zaire McLaurin scored defensive touchdowns for Northeast, which hosts Penn Wood in an early season battle of unbeaten teams on Friday.
6. Archbishop Wood (6) 2-0
Ryan Di Vergilis ran for a score and Cardel Pigford caught a touchdown pass in a big win over Maryland Freedom. The Vikings are averaging 44 points. They play Central Dauphin East on Friday at William Tennent.
7. Imhotep Charter (3) 0-2
The Panthers have been tested early with a tight loss to La Salle and a tough setback to Dematha (Md.) Catholic. Imhotep faces another challenge Saturday with a home game against North Jersey power Bergen Catholic.
8. North Penn (4) 1-1
The Knights got some strong work from senior quarterback Kolby Barrow in a tough loss to La Salle on Friday night. North Penn visits Pennsbury on Friday.
9. Downingtown East (10) 2-0
Connor Noble had 123 receiving yards, a rushing touchdown and a sack in a win over Perkiomen Valley. Downingtown East visits Roman Catholic on Friday.
10. Neumann Goretti (9) 2-0
The Saints have allowed just seven points this season. They host Brooklyn’s Canarsie on Saturday afternoon.
