Buddy the Cat was facing certain death. Now he’s helping ensure other Philly animals survive.

The Frankford “community cat” has recovered and found a new home -- while still receiving donations from animal lovers around the world.

Buddy the Cat sits on the sofa in Katie Venanzi’s South Phila. home on April 23, 2022. The wonders of Buddy the Cat. After two kids unleashed two dogs on this unsuspecting street cat (he wasn't a pet), leaving him close to death, his plight has touched the hearts of people all over the world. As he's recovered, he has brought in over $100,000 to the PSPCA that will be used to create a fund to treat other animals like him. Plus he has become something a social media star and his recovery has seemed to brightened a lot of people's days. That includes the ER vet, Katie Venanzi, who saved his life after her own cat died not long ago and is fostering him. She hopes to adopt him.
