MEDFORD It'll be a public pie-tasting party that promises to be both palatable and philanthropic.

Johnson's Corner Farm will again host a "Pies For Promise" Thanksgiving pie-tasting event this weekend, with more than 20 varieties of the dessert available for sampling. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, the public is invited to come try the goods - with an entrance donation of $3.

All the donations will go to UrbanPromise for its Thanksgiving Dinner Fund. That money will help the Camden nonprofit host more than 600 people in Camden at its Thanksgiving dinners later this month. The farm also turned its annual party into a fund-raiser for the group last year.

"It's a time of fellowship with our customers and the community," Eric Johnson, who owns and operates the farm with his brother, Pete, said in a news release.

They hope to raise $2,500 for UrbanPromise, the farm said in a news release.

Johnson's Corner Farm is at 133 Church Rd. in Medford.
