Person killed by Amtrak train in Delco
Incident with Amtrak Acela train occurred just after 12:20 p.m. in Darby Township.
A person was fatally struck by an Amtrak Acela train Monday afternoon in Delaware County, officials said.
The train hit the person on the tracks just after 12:20 p.m. in Darby Township. There were 118 passengers on the train and no injuries were reported, said Amtrak spokesperson Kimberly Woods. Amtrak service resumed later in the afternoon and the incident was under investigation.
Inbound SEPTA service on the regional Wilmington/Newark Line in a section of Delaware County was suspended until about 5 p.m., a SEPTA spokesperson said.
