A Chester teen has been charged with murder for allegedly shooting another teen at point-blank range in December during a robbery of a large amount of marijuana, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Anthony Jordan, 18, was arrested Friday and charged with first-, second-, and third-degree murder, robbery, aggravated assault, and related offenses. He remains in custody, denied bail due to the nature of the charges he faces. There was no indication he had hired an attorney.

Jordan’s alleged accomplice in the fatal robbery, Kysir Brokenbough, 20, remains free, and Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer said he should be considered armed and dangerous and asked anyone who sees him to contact police.

“This is yet another case where guns and drugs have led to the senseless murder of a teenaged victim by a teenaged suspect,” Stollsteimer said. “I continue to bring attention to these cases because even as my office works hard to prevent these crimes, we are equally committed to solving them.”

Zamir Abdullah, 19, was found shot Dec. 9, when Chester police officers responded to reports of a car crash on West Sixth Street near Concord Avenue, according to the affidavit of probable cause for Jordan’s arrest.

Officers pulled Abdullah out of an overturned Pontiac G6 and took him to Crozer Chester Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. He had been shot once in the head, the affidavit said.

Officers found two witnesses near the scene of the crash who said they had been in the car with Abdullah at the time of the shooting, according to the affidavit. One of the witnesses told police Jordan and Brokenbough approached the car and began speaking with Abdullah.

During the conversation, Jordan reached into the car and tried to wrestle a large bundle of marijuana away from one of the witnesses, they said. The two men then pulled out handguns and fired into the vehicle, striking Abdullah, whose foot hit the gas pedal as he slumped over.

Detectives searched one of the witness’ phones and found conversations between the witness and Jordan on Instagram, the affidavit said. The messages showed that the two discussed a meeting minutes before the fatal shooting.

Investigators continue to search for Brokenbough, who lives in Claymont, Del., and is likely staying in that area. Anyone with information about him or the case is asked to call Chester police at 610-724-4288.
