On July 16, Engine 52 firefighter Brian Pingue cooled off with a hose after battling a house fire on the 7000 block of State Road in Philadelphia. The blaze occurred at the start of a record heat wave that gripped the Northeast section of the country and was especially brutal in the Philadelphia area, where the heat index soared to 104 degrees.
