Region rings in 2025 with first babies of the New Year

There were a crop of babies arriving in the wee hours of 2025. The first in the Philadelphia area may be Owen Eugene Brewer, a boy, born at midnight at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Easton.

The new year arrived with a flurry of births, including several babies making their debuts within the first minutes of 2025.

At St. Luke’s Hospital’s Anderson Campus in Easton, Pa., Owen Eugene Brewer was born right as the clock struck midnight, according to a charge nurse at the hospital. Owen, the son of Nadia and Ethan Brewer, weighed 6 pounds, 3 ounces, and measured 18 inches long.

Main Line Health welcomed four babies born — one at each of its four hospitals — all within the first hour of the new year, “a rare occurrence,” according to Larry Hanover, communications manager at Main Line Health.

At Paoli Hospital, baby boy Beckham Ford Iatarola was born at 12:21 a.m. to parents Logan and David Iatarola. He weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and was 21 inches long.

At Riddle Hospital, Grace Ann Castagna was born to Kelly and Nick Castagna. She arrived weighing 6 pounds, 6 ounces, and measured 19.5 inches.

At Lankenau Medical Center, Dylan Avery Bucknor-Stark was born at 12:49 a.m. to Radiance Bucknor and Crystal Stark. She weighed 5 pounds, 15 ounces, and was 18¼ inches long.

At Bryn Mawr Hospital, Quinn Krout arrived at 12:57 a.m. to parents Kaitlin Bass and Kurt Krout. She weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces, and measured 20.5 inches.

At Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospital in East Norriton, Sophia Lee Trosky arrived at 12:20 a.m. to parents Sarah and Glen Trosky. Sophia’s parents were thrilled to have her ring in the new year weighing 8 pounds, 1 ounce.

At Penn Medicine’s Pennsylvania Hospital, Callum Patrick Mahoney was the first baby of 2025, arriving at 12:27 a.m. Callum weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and is the son of Jenna and Ryan Mahoney.

The first baby born at Temple University Hospital waited until after sunrise to make his appearance.

Adin Jimenez was born at 8:14 a.m. to Chrystal Rivera, according to Jeremy Walter, director of media relations at Temple Health.
