2 dead in separate homicides in Philly stores
A woman was stabbed in a Rite Aid in West Kensington while a man was shot an hour earlier at a University City market, police said.
A woman was stabbed to death at a Rite Aid in West Kensington one hour after a man was shot to death in a University City store, Philadelphia police said Saturday.
According to police, a 34-year-old woman was stabbed twice in the side around 10:30 p.m. Friday inside the Rite Aid in the 200 block of West Lehigh Avenue. Officers found her lying unresponsive on the floor and she was taken to Temple University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead just before 11 p.m., police said.
An unidentified male was taken into custody at the scene, where a knife was recovered, police said. As of Saturday afternoon, police had not released his name and said he had not been formally charged.
In the other homicide, police said a 21-year-old man was shot in the face and neck at a market at 40th and Market Streets just before 9:30 p.m. Friday. He was pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m. at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
No arrest had been made as of Saturday afternoon. Police described the suspect as wearing a mask, gloves, and black clothing.
