Comedian and Philly native Kevin Hart suffered “major” back injuries in a car accident early Sunday after his car veered off a road and crashed into a ditch in Southern California, according to TMZ.
The accident occurred on Mulholland Highway in the Malibu Hills before 1 a.m. Sunday, TMZ reported. Video obtained by the news site showed Hart’s Plymouth Barracuda in a gully with its roof crushed. The car had smashed through wooden fencing along the roadside, the report said.
Hart, who was born and raised in Philadelphia and attended Temple University, and the driver suffered “major back injuries,” police told TMZ. A third person in the car is a woman who did not require hospital treatment.
The driver had not been drinking, police told TMZ.
Hart was initially taken home by his security team to get medical attention but was eventually treated at a hospital, TMZ reported.
